Maxton man charged in stabbing

MAXTON — A 56-year-old Maxton man has been charged with stabbing a man on Sunday and causing severe injuries, according to Police Chief Tammy Deese.

According to a statement by Deese, James McEachin is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and placed in the Robeson County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Deese said police responded to a call at 8:48 p.m. on Sunday of a man who had been stabbed and was at Walgreens. When they arrived, they found 26-year-old Sterling Page of Maxton with an injury to the neck. Deese said officers provided first aid and were able to control the bleeding before Robeson County Emergency Services personnel arrived and got Page stabilized.

The statement did not include any specific address for McEachin or Page beyond the fact they live in Maxton.
