LUMBERTON — A City-Wide Rejuvenation Day in Lumberton will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Raymond B. Pennington Athletic Complex, located on Hornet Road.
Organizers said they intend to make this a day of encouragement and rejuvenation in reaching out to others from all backgrounds.
The event is being presented by Gregory Mitchell Ministries and Lumberton City Council members John Cantey, John Robinson, Chris Howard, Burnis Wilkins, Karen Higley, Leon Maynor, and county Commissioners Jerry Stephens and Berlester Campbell.
Organizers are seeking agencies that range from faith-based organizations as well as other agencies that will collaborate to offer free referrals and health screenings. Services and screenings will include vision, hearing, blood pressure, dental and fluoride varnish for children, and glucose checks.
There will also be voter registration, live music, faith-based resource informational booths, educational demonstrations, and culinary healthy food demonstrations as well as raffles, bungee jumps, games, give-ways and free food for children.
Interested food and nonfood vendors’ sites will be available for rental that day. Spaces of 10-by-20 feet will be available for food vendors for $100 with valid health certifications in place.
The 10-by-10-foot site for the non-food vendor is $25.
All faith-based and other agencies will be offered a 10-by-10 site free. There will be no selling permitted at these free sites, as they are for informational and referral purposes only. The Raymond B. Pennington Athletic Complex is at Northeast in Lumberton on Hornet Road, Exit 22.
