Roscoe Junior Bell, 55, of Main Street, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on two counts of breaking and entering, larceny and safecracking and remains jailed under a secured bond of $152,000, Trevino said.
Bell is accused of breaking into Fowler’s Supermarket in Tabor City on Aug. 11 and Minuteman Food Mart in Whiteville on Aug. 14, breaking into an ATM, and stealing 70 cartons of cigarettes, lighters, and cigars, according to Trevino. About $36,000 in damage was done during the burglaries.
Some of the stolen items were recovered at a Rennert Road home in Shannon, Trevino said.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance photos of the crimes, which helped identify Bell, according to Trevino.
“We received numerous tips on identifying the subject and we thank the people of Robeson County for helping us with this case,” the detective said.
