WAGRAM — A minister from Pembroke was arrested recently on charges he had sex with a minor in Wagram, according to police.

Darryl Todd, senior pastor of Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church, is accused of statutory rape, according to Laurinburg police Capt. Kim Monroe. Todd was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

The 32-year-old is charged with three counts of statuary rape involving a 14-year-old girl, according to arrest warrants. All three incidents occurred in April and May, according to police.

The warrants list a Pembroke address for Todd, but the minister gave officers a Columbia, S.C., address when he was arrested. Todd could not be reached for comment.

Monroe declined to say how Todd knew the minor, but noted it was not through the church.

Todd remains listed as the pastor on the church’s website, www.springbranchmbc.org. According to the site, Todd currently serves as president of the Union for the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Educational Association and is a member of the General Board at Large for the General Baptist State Convention of N.C. Inc.

He was formerly the pastor of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church of the Freeman Community of Riegelwood, the Middle District Baptist Association director of Youth Affairs, a member of the Evangelism Ministry, a lecturer of the Congress of Christian Education and past chairman of Youth Evangelism.

Todd is the president and founder of St. John Community Development Corporation. He is married with two children, according to the website.
