I’m in a very creative mood so I’ve decided to play a little music for you today in my column. Here’s your fall activities Bugle call. Fairmont’s slate of events from September to the end of the year is chock full of excitement, pageantry, and fun.

Take a look at what’s in store for you this fall:

• Two job fairs with Perdue Farms and Alamac American Knits on Sept. 8 and 22, plus one with Mountaire Farms in October.

• The Fairmont Development Corporation Pavilion in the Pines dedication is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 with the Gold Rush band in concert.

• Senior Citizens fall cookout at Britt Park on Oct 2.

• Farmers Festival Pageant on Oct. 9.

• Chamber of Commerce Festival Golf Tournament plus Carolina Breakers beach music concert at Fairmont Golf Course on Oct. 15.

• Fairmont High School Homecoming Parade and game vs. West Columbus on Oct. 15.

• Farmers Festival with Grand Marshal County Commissioner and well known farmer Roger Oxendine leading a 100-plus parade on Saturday, Oct. 16. Other activities include car show, civil war re-enactment, music, and a big dance at night.

• Trick or Treating on the front porch of town hall with Dr. Electrode on Saturday, Oct. 30.

• A Haunted Forest on South Walnut Street at the South Robeson Rescue Unit Headquarters from Oct. 27-30 sponsored by the SRRU and town fire department.

• A Veterans Day ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11, in the Heritage Center at noon.

• 4th annual Holiday on Main Christmas event including Twilight Parade, tree lighting ceremony, and entertainment on Dec. 3.

• Marietta Christmas Parade on Dec. 4.

• Senior Citizens Christmas Party on Dec. 11.

• Santa visits the kids on Christmas Eve.

And this is just the big stuff. Throw in senior citizens monthly bingo, high school football games, meetings, club activities, kids movies, plus a few big surprises that I’m purposely holding back and Fairmont is set up for a blockbuster fall.

You don’t want to miss one single event and you won’t if you stay in touch with The Fairmont Bugle. One click of your computer mouse puts you in touch with all the great events coming your way. We hope to see you at all of them.

— Charles Kemp is the mayor of Fairmont.
