The tournament, which was established last year to help a person who had suffered a crippling accident, this year will benefit the Robeson Community College Scholarship Fund. The format is four-person superball, and no more than a single player on each team can have a handicap of 5 or less.
The cost is $60 a player, or $240 a team, and includes greens and carts fee, prizes, refreshments and lunch. There are two levels of sponsorships, $100 for a Silver which includes a sign, and $300 for Gold which includes a sign and the entry of a team. Entry forms and be picked up at Pinecrest CC.
The first place team will win $400, second place will $300 and third place will win $200.
On the course, Ricky Britt broke 80 for the first time, clearing it easily with a 5-over-par 77. He was playing with Dosey Chavis, Cliff Nance and Knocky Thorndyke.
The team of Tom Taylor, Babe Lawson, Robert Lawson and Jimmy Lawson shot a 14-under-par 58 on Thursday to win the annual Industrial Golf Tournament. Larry McNeill, Gerald Strickland, Larry Lynn Locklear and Carlton Dial shot a 60 to come in second, and the team of William Lowry, Channing Jones, Willie Harris and Dwayne Emanuel shot a 61 and then won a card playoff to come in third.
Cliffwood GC
The 2010 Clifford Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament, which provides financial support for students at Robeson Community College, will be held Sept. 16 at Cliffwood Golf Course.
Registration is 11 a.m. and the tournament begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
The tournament uses a four-person captain’s choice format. The cost is $75 and includes cart and greens fees, mulligan, ladies tee, lunch and prizes. Sponsorships range from $100 to $5,000.

Willie Cummings eagled the par 5 No. 18 with a driver, 7 wood and a putt.

Riverside GC
The Locklear Golf Academy will hold its inaugural Be a Fan golf tournament on Saturday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The event will raise money that will be used to provide golf instruction to area youths.
The academy is run by Jamie Locklear, a former Robeson County golf champion.
The cost for a three-person team is $140. Each team will consist of two players and one student from the academy. There are three levels of sponsorships with different benefits — Gold, which costs $1,000; Silver, $500; and Scoreboard, $100.
Fairmont GC
Diana Canady shot her personal best for nine holes, carding a 4-over-par 40.
