Purnell Swett’s Mark Heil found his weapons. And they’ve been sitting at his disposal all along. Following last week’s dismal offensive performance in the opener against E.E. Smith, the Rams turned to Travon Clark and Tyrell McDonald Friday at St. Pauls.

Clark scored two rushing touchdowns and McDonald caught four passes in what was a much-improved showing on offense for the Rams. “We finally found some weapons,” Heil said, shortly after his team’s 33-0 win. “We’re going to find some more to.” McDonald, a sophomore, was making his first start on the varsity level.

Travon Clark converted the game’s most pivotal play in the first half, converting a fourth-and-6 at the St. Pauls-34 with a 15 yards gain inside the Bulldogs’ 20-yard line.

Lumberton quarterback Marquez North continued to rack up all-purpose yards against Overhills. North, a 6-foot-4, 200 pound sophomore and former running back, recorded 122 yards of total offense with one passing and one rushing touchdown. His touchdown total now stands at five this season.

Fairmont’s Tyreke Addison carried the offensive workload after starting Golden Tornadoes quarterback Demetrius Washington went down with injury. Addison rushed for 124 yards on 15 carries, and completed 3-of-5 passes for 46 yards in a loss to North Brunswick.

South Robeson’s Taeshawn McIntyre, passed for 72 yards in his second start under center for Garron Warwick’s group.

Trey Sasser and the St. Pauls Bulldogs are still having trouble keeping their hands on the football. A week after being crippled by turnovers against Carrboro, the Bulldogs gave away possession five times against Purnell Swett, four coming in their own territory.

Red Springs running back Taquan Conely, went over the 100-yard mark against East Bladen with a 105-yard effort on four just attempts in a 52-0 loss.
