LUMBERTON — Prevatte’s Home Sales of Lumberton recently received the North Carolina Independent Retailer of the Year award from the North Carolina Manufactured and Modular Homebuilders Association.

The award was presented to Prevatte’s Home Sales during the NCMHA annual meeting held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro in June.

The award was created to recognize manufactured/modular retail businesses within the state of North Carolina whose sales team “shows consistent and outstanding involvement” in serving the NCMHA, its local community and the manufactured and modular housing industry as a whole, according to the association.

The association said Prevatte’s Homes Sales actively promotes the manufactured and modular housing industry through its involvement within NCMHA, its commitment to customer service and its passion for providing quality and affordable housing to residents in Robeson and surrounding counties.

The business is owned by Tony Prevatte.

“This distinguished award is a tribute to Tony and his team for his continuous service not only to his loyal customers, but also to the association as a whole,” said Bobby Sauls, association president.

The trade association was founded in 1968 to promote the ownership of manufactured and modular homes and to develop high professional standards for those involved in the industry.

During the meeting, Prevatte was elected as retailer representative to the association’s board of directors. Prevatte has been in the manufactured and modular housing industry for more than 40 years.

The board of directors is comprised of 19 industry members from varying manufactured and modular housing backgrounds. Its chief responsibilities include: supervising the direction of the NCMHA, and determining its policies and maintaining the NCMHA standard of excellence throughout all aspects of the organization.

NCMHA represents member companies, including all of the retail sales centers in the state, all of the in-state manufacturers and nearly all of the out-of-state manufacturers that are licensed to ship homes to the state.

A high percentage of the suppliers and finance companies are also members. Membership in the association currently totals more than 1,000.
