LUMBERTON — UNC Pembroke’s Rise ’N Shine Morning Connection, The Regional Center for Economic, Community and Professional Development and the Pembroke Area Chamber of Commerce present a workshop for area businesses on Sept. 14.

The workshop, “Customer Love,” will be held at the Golden Corral at 4928 Kahn Drive from 7:30 to 9 p.m. There is no cost, but registration is necessary. To register call (910) 775-4000 or e-mail the Regional Center at rc@uncp.edu.

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Jobs Summit has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 16 in the A.D. Lewis Auditorium on the campus of Robeson Community College.

The summit, an effort to bring new jobs to Robeson County, is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. For information, call (910) 272-3231.

The summit is sponsored by RCC and several co-sponsors, including area chambers of commerce, North Carolina Employment Security Commission and Job Link Center, Lumber River Workforce Development Board, Robeson County Committee of 100, The Robesonian, and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

WHITEVILLE — The Small Business Center at Southeastern Community College is sponsoring a doubleheader business seminar on Sept. 16.

The seminar from 1 to 4 p.m. will focus on improving customer service. The second session, from 6 to 9 p.m., is entitled “How can I keep my business from going stale?”

Steve Carver, who has more than 40 years of experience as businesses owner and operator, will present the seminars.

The SCC campus is at 4564 Chadbourn Highway. There is limited number of seats for each presentation. There is no charge but people are asked to pre-register by contacting Jeanell Sweat at the Small Business Center by e-mail to jsweat@sccnc.edu or by calling (910) 642-7141, Ext. 397.

LUMBERTON — Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, with a location in Lumberton, was recently recognized for having “the best breakfast available at a full-service chain restaurant” in a Zagat survey.

More than 6,500 regular chain restaurant diners shared their opinions on 39 full-service restaurants in the latest “Zagat Fast Food Survey,”
