LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Recreation Department’s weekly classes at the Bill Sapp Recreation Center have begun.
They are: Mondays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 5 p.m., karate classes for children older than 5; Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., square and line dancing for all ages; and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., women’s aerobics for those over age 18.
Karate is $25 per month, aerobics is $20 per month. Line dancing is free for the first two nights. Registration is during the first class.

PEMBROKE — A viewing of photographs taken by Elmer W. Hunt, a long-time Pembroke area photographer, will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mary Livermore Library reading room at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
The focus will be photos from “Strike at the Wind!,” and it will be moderated by Linda E. Oxendine. The event is free and open to the public.
LUMBERTON — The inaugural Book ‘Em North Carolina event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the A.D. Lewis Auditorium at Robeson Community College.
About 75 authors are expected to participate in book signings, talks and panel discussions. Proceeds from the book sales will go to literacy campaigns and anti-crime measures in Robeson County.
The event is free and open to the public.
LUMBERTON — The musical “Remember the 60s” will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lumberton Jr. High School.
It will be performed on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 at the Carolina Civic Center. All shows start at 7 p.m.

LUMBERTON — Girl Scout cookies are on sale until March 11.
Each box is $3.50, and there are eight varieties to choose from, including the popular Thin Mints, Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties. Customers who don’t want to purchase cookies for themselves can support the military with Operation Cookie Drop. Now in its eighth year, customer donations have purchased more than 415,000 boxes of cookies for the program.
